By all means, do not use a hammer.

All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that the parts you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if you can't get them together again, there must be a reason. By all means, do not use a hammer.

spring:Spring:SPRING:spring

sung to the tune of "SpamSpamSpamSpam"

don't much like hani's attitude (a bit too superiorly snarky), but he IS occasionally very funny:

Jung quotation

"Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves."

so poignant for me, today, at work...

betatesting the malware

an article off zdnet has a very good point about AV software and malware authors using it to "beta test" their stuff:
why popular antivirus apps 'do not work'

"the actual reason why the top selling antivirus applications don't work is because malware authors are specifically testing their trojans and viruses to make sure they can bypass these applications before releasing them in the wild."

in a related article by the same author, he says
"the most popular antivirus applications on the market are rendered useless by around 80 percent of new malware"

kaspersky (a .ru firm) is mentioned as able to stop 90% of new malware.

random late nite musings

disclaimer: this might get depressing... yet, i am not depressed.

just sitting here, after putting the twins to bed, and looking around my living room, thinking that i have way too many books and movies, and junk - too much junk in general is cluttering up my life.

looking at my desk: i have opened and unopened mail laying around, a kitchen knife for opening it, an empty icetea bottle, the book i'm reading, scotchgard OXY carpet cleaner, a ruined-by-the-cat set of headphones (chewed off the foam), some response forms for the YMCA, a set of poker cards, and a postcard from hongkong.
- and no inclination to clean.

looking at my bookshelves: way too many programming books, some several years out of date, some that i've read the one chapter, or even the several paragraphs that i was interested in, then shelved. the next bookshelf: spiritual & religious books - that i rarely crack, gathering dust. the next set of bookshelves: way too many movies that i've watched once, need to trade them in, scifi books, selfhelp books, pulp-fiction everywhere - but whenever i start sorting thru them to trade into bookmans, i sit down and start reading a favorite. sigh

it is too effing late to be sitting here thinking about all this.

why the hell do i save old cables? power, network, phone - wtf?

eck, off to bed...

zidane and materazzi fined

so, FIFA passed down a ruling: zidane and materazzi get fined, and a 3-game ban i guess, which zidane will do 3 days of community service with kids playing soccer, since he retired anyway... pretty fair, i suppose.

here is the article on reuters...

masturbation - a meme?

maybe it was all the librarians, but i started thinking about masturbation... i'm not sure if this is a meme, a list, a quiz, or a little of each:

  1. how often do you masturbate? - 3x+ week, give or take

  2. do you have a sexual partner? - not at this time

  3. do you masturbate more often than sex with your partner? - when i was married, yes, about twice as often

  4. does your partner ever masturbate you? - yes, but usually as foreplay

  5. ever do each other? - yes, kinda the same answer

  6. ever watch each other? - not usually, we'd get excited and want to jump in

  7. any tantric, yogic, or martial arts exercises? - yes, tried all three

  8. any energy work, breathing, or qi circulation work? - yes, all three

  9. recommended books or sites? - yep, the multi-orgasmic man (there's one for women, too)

kinda late for TMI-Tuesday, but there ya go!

july in phx

this weather should drive out some of those pesky SoCal investors... eh?
;)

finally, and i mean FINALLY, found H.Beam Piper's Space Viking at Bookmans... not that it is an achievement, or a rare book even. it's just one of my absolute favorite books. drew a drawring (intentional!) of the cover in H.S. - which i was actually proud of...

currently listening to: Bare-naked Ladies - Brian Wilson (groovy!)

Daily Taurus Forecast

Like a newly coronated ruler, you feel calm, confident and in control today. You won't take any guff from anyone -- although you don't really have to worry about it, since everyone will be completely charmed by your happy glow. Your positive attitude will be contagious! Overall, this day will be mellow, and any emotional outbursts will be more in the realm of uncontrollable giggle attacks than angry tirades. Everyone is content with where they are and what they're doing.

what is guff, again?

is it just me?

is it just me, or are quite a few of us lacking in energy?
bored, lackadaisical, jaded, slacking, spent, etc.
is it the heat? summertime-blues? hrm...

THL makes me smile, most days anyway...
