monkey dream...

ugh, i dunno if this is gonna be funny when i wake up...
just had a dream, and i woke up, cuz i had to pee.

ok, so, in my dream i'm one of several guys who is filming a reality thing, behind the scenes shoot, of a band.
(no i'm not a musician, it's a dream, follow me here)

we take the stage, somehow the 3 guys morph into actors, i think it's jack black on lead guitar, that guy he did
the movie with (where they don't want the americn pi guy to marry the hot controlling beesh) on rhythm,
and me / keanu reeves on base and drums (really weird huh?), and the cameras roll...

jack gets an introl solo, david? gets a solo and a spotlight, then keanu (me) runs on stageright,
crosses the whole stage playing ripping base solo (?) with a single white drum slung across his back,
spotlight following him across the stage to a huge drumkit setup with a curtain behind it.
and a little drum kit to the right.

sitting at the huge drumkit, in the spotlight, is a monkey, a young chimpanzee ( iwatched gramma's boy the other day ).

the monkey tears into a fabulous drum solo and i (keanu) go sit down at the little drumkit and start ripping the same solo too.
the monkey stops, gets pissed and starts smashing all of the drums, throwing them around, throws the sticks into the audience,
and rushes downstage to where i'm at and takes away my sticks, and throws them into the audience.
pause.

keanu (me) reaches backwards over his shoulders, grabs two more sticks from outta a hidden thingy,
triumpantly raises them in a V and starts hammering drums again!
monkey grabs sticks and howling throws them into the audience again!
smashes drumset, throws around.

keanu(me) stands up, pulls single drum around, pulls sticks from hidden pouch,
starts running thru some kinda cool solo from that drumcorp movie.
monkey goes nuts, grabs sticks, throws, tears drum off, jumps into it smashing the skins,
pulls it up around him, depression barrel style, and runs offstage, spotlight following.

moment of silence, all pause, i wake up.

this seems funny now, i can't believe i actually got up and typed it in...

going back to bed...

it's not really that i buy into the rhetoric, but i'm happy to see someone,
anyone, really make a serious jab at renewable energy, and the media bite it,
rather than all the doom & gloom that they typically "sell papers" with.

so, next we need the big B.G. to throw some of his enormous wealth into the fray.
and why would i think that's important?  cuz he's another media darling.
and he's supposedly close friends with Buffet, another wizgaffer.
toss in a few mouthy actors, too.

it may be too late, i dunno (some of those youtube ppl think so).
but once we get a little momentum, who knows?
the tipping point may have been reached,
but until the snow drifts in phoenix,
i think there's hope.

read between the lines

there is more than a little bit of wrongness in this.

the fed is bailing out the corporations who effectively caused the problems.
nobody is bailing out the people who have lost their homes due to shady lending practice.
these bailouts were available immediately.  tell me those in foreclosure are getting immediate relief.
i personally know ppl who are in trouble now, due to those criminal refi's.

how many of you lost 10's of thousands of dollars in the tech-bubble burst?
how many of you invested what you had left in property thinking it would be safe?
how many of you are slowly slipping down that slippery slope?

we are slowly & surely heading toward the feudal state.

who's running the show?

sorry, i have to point this article out...

to me, this isn't politricks, it's much deeper.
it's at the core of our existence.

earth changes

i used to follow an earth changes newsletter (gordon somebody?), over 10 years ago.
and if i remember correctly, they had shown some kinda relationship,
between earthquakes occurring in 3s... (dunno if it's tectonics)

1st - down around indonesia
2nd - south america
3rd - westcoast of usa

and i see on the earthquake watch widget (igoogle), that the first 2 have occurred recently. 
i don't know if that pattern of 3s still fits.  i hope not.
just popped into my head, seeing the widget this morning.

maybe i'm missing the issue, but why *stop* new applications for 2 years for environmental studies?
when the rest of their administration is opening up new drilling areas, *known* to be environmentally damaging?

the love guru

mike myers may be a genius!
seriously!  i'm not saying comic genius, no.
(yes, i think he's funny, in a wonderfully sophomoric way)

but, i'm thinking more in the way of his spoofing, it's all snickery goofiness on one level,
and then there is another level, which i only got, sitting in the movie my kids invited me to,
so that they could actually get a ride, but not sit with their dad, cuz their friends were there.
(yes, i am the dadtaxi)

on other fronts, i actually rode my bike again, after getting a new tube for the rear,
for the *third* time!  gasp!  exercise!  shock!  disbelief!  acceptance!  resignation!

oops, forgot... bought a bike, planning to ride to work, got a flat on the canal, 2nd time i rode.
bike gathered dust for a week or so, standing in the kitchen, where i left it so that
i would actually take care of it quickly, but instead stepped around it daily...

well, better go shower and head to work a little late.
which is what i get for reading other peoples blogs,
and then the links they link to.
but it's fun and edumacational !

we had a *come to jeebuzz meeting* with the GM, the Directors, and the Devs,
and words were said, and they were somewhat abusive, and told us things
"were not really our business" and we "didn't see the big picture".

and i got riled up, made the mistake of "telling it like it is".
was told straight to my face "we need to stop this moronic ignorance",
so i got up & walked out, packed up my stuff, and left.

dang irish temper.

i think of synchronicity, when something happens in my life, and it might be a coincidence, but it seems so *right*.
like, you dream about a friend, then see them the next time you go out to breakfast with your parents.
even tho they don't live by you, and *just happened* to go there that day...

maybe those friends see us in our dreams, and we agree to meet ?

i wonder if i intentionally said before i went to bed every night: "i want to dream of this person",
would they hear me?  would we meet in our dreams?  interesting thought...

i try to fly in my dreams too, but i never remember it, lol.

Thoughts on Life, Currents, and Nothing

life today seems to have unknown meaning, like my brain is trying to connect dots on a very large piece of paper, starting from the center...

things seem good.  i'm healthy, my kids & parents & sibs are healthy.
yet, there was this feeling, now passed, that death had been around, peeking over my shoulder.
not something specific to me, but as if someone was watching with interest.
like when a deer feels the eyes of the hunter on it, and glances up, before spooking, i guess.

i think i posted about my issues with being 40-something.
how i was experiencing some things, extra-natural things, and have been seeing things for a few years.
maybe i related that c.g. jung wrote about something similar, during a schizoid period in his life.
lol, perhaps it's just some weird change in the chemical ocean my brain is swimming in?

i am a mastless ship, moving with currents in the air and water.  without a destination or plan.
it seems right to be here, at this point, my rudder untended, whacking back and forth depending on some impetus.

oh, things are fine.  i have a job.  i'm coaching 2 soccer teams.  i'm good. 
really.

onto nothing.  as a meaning, i guess.  can a life know anything about what it should be?
i've thought i was waiting for something for so long, and nothing has happened.
which i guess is good, right?
cuz if something had happened, maybe my journey here would be done.
i'd have accomplished whatever it was that i set out to do.
and then, goal met, i would move on.
but, nothing.

so, i'm still here.
maybe for awhile...

small grey pebbles...

yesterday and today, after getting out of the shower and drying off,
i found a small grey pebble on my shoulder...
yesterday on my right.
today on my left.

really smallish, about 2mm, maybe...
balanced, almost delicately, about halfway from neck to shoulder, both times.
funny that i didn't notice them, until i looked in the mirror.

yesterday, i just flicked it off, thinking it was from the towel.
today, i tried to pick it up, but it slipped outta my fingers, and fell to the tile.
i heard it bounce once.

i couldn't find it.
weird.

after yoga the other night, had a waking dream...

I saw a soldier, who saw the Light of god.  Not my god, not your god, but God.
The soldier then cast down his weapon, and his brothers saw him and were astonished.
And they laid down their weapons too.  Looking at him, they too saw the Light.

Their enemy saw this happen, and rose up, thinking to overwhelm them.
Yet the light caught them too, and their weapons dropped, forgotten.

Jungian thoughts

i'm reading an intro book on jung and freud, started with jung...
not comparing myself with them, but something i just read stuck out.

something happened to them, and to others in history, around the age of 35-45.
the term they use is "creative illness", which is kinda funny.
dunno about freud, but jung experienced some phenomena, which i seem to be experiencing too.
not psychic exactly, but a broadened awareness maybe?
i feel things around me, hear things sometimes, all the time lately (past year or so?).

for some reason, i'm thinking this all has to do with a fundamental change in a man's chemistry,
around this time in life. it's well documented that the testosterone levels fall, or begin falling.
perhaps there are other issues with seratonin and other chemistry of the brain?
it would explain alot.

just wanted to make a note of it...

suspected serial shooter(s) caught in phx...

so, they appear to have caught the <a href="http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/0808serial-shooter0808.html">serial shooter(s)</a> here in phx. 
some things i noticed, from the news <i>(an interview clip)</i>, the radio, and some articles:

<li>he seemed to be enjoying the attention</li>
<li>they say he's cocky and unapologetic</li>
<li>he made a statement blaming his 'roomate'</li>
<li>on the interview clip, he said "i'd like to see them prove it"</li>
<li>an ex of his <i>(wife or gf, not sure)</i> said he bragged he could get away with killing her</li>
</ul>
so, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profiling">profiling</a> probly puts him in the money, no?

none of that makes him guilty, nor his large amount of guns, including the same type of shotgun used in the shootings.
there was a series of shootings of dogs and horses that were linked to the beginning of this spree.
wonder if this guy had any pets disappear when he was younger?

an article off zdnet has a very good point about AV software and malware authors using it to "beta test" their stuff:
why popular antivirus apps 'do not work'

"the actual reason why the top selling antivirus applications don't work is because malware authors are specifically testing their trojans and viruses to make sure they can bypass these applications before releasing them in the wild."

in a related article by the same author, he says
"the most popular antivirus applications on the market are rendered useless by around 80 percent of new malware"

kaspersky (a .ru firm) is mentioned as able to stop 90% of new malware.

random late nite musings

disclaimer: this might get depressing... yet, i am not depressed.

just sitting here, after putting the twins to bed, and looking around my living room, thinking that i have way too many books and movies, and junk - too much junk in general is cluttering up my life.

looking at my desk: i have opened and unopened mail laying around, a kitchen knife for opening it, an empty icetea bottle, the book i'm reading, scotchgard OXY carpet cleaner, a ruined-by-the-cat set of headphones (chewed off the foam), some response forms for the YMCA, a set of poker cards, and a postcard from hongkong.
- and no inclination to clean.

looking at my bookshelves: way too many programming books, some several years out of date, some that i've read the one chapter, or even the several paragraphs that i was interested in, then shelved. the next bookshelf: spiritual & religious books - that i rarely crack, gathering dust. the next set of bookshelves: way too many movies that i've watched once, need to trade them in, scifi books, selfhelp books, pulp-fiction everywhere - but whenever i start sorting thru them to trade into bookmans, i sit down and start reading a favorite. sigh

it is too effing late to be sitting here thinking about all this.

why the hell do i save old cables? power, network, phone - wtf?

so, FIFA passed down a ruling: zidane and materazzi get fined, and a 3-game ban i guess, which zidane will do 3 days of community service with kids playing soccer, since he retired anyway... pretty fair, i suppose.

prosecuting freedom

i seriously doubt that the best interests of this nation are being served by a president, an administration, and a government that thinks that it is "disgraceful" for a citizen, a group, or a newspaper to question their policy...

it is actually our right and duty to question their policy. it is part of what makes us good citizens, to review, speak about, and at times criticize. it is something that the founders of this country worried about most - that we would become complacent, and allow our own government to trample us...

sad and disgraceful for this current flock to wave the flag, and beat the drum, and expect us to shut our mouths, and march in step...

working for them, will you keep telling yourself that "you are just doing your job"?

how far will they go? how far will you? when your time is up, will you ask for forgiveness? will your grandchildren work off your debt to the world?

saturday, back to work

*yawn*, yes race-fans, back to work, on a saturday...

i have my kids this weekend, so i brought them in, brought my laptop too, and set them up in my managers office with a few dvds. i'm out here building software releases...

building isn't bad, it's the configuration that's the grind. need to automate that somehow. just haven't had time to noodle the problem yet. building is fine, becuz i just kick it off, read some blogs, and glance to the other screen occasionally to check that none of the projects broke. not very intense, but i'd rather by outside with the twins, having fun...

grandfather died

grampa john died tuesday morning between 12 and 2am.
he had slipped into a coma sometime monday night, and passed quickly, according to the nursing staff...

i woke up angry, right around 2am, knowing that something had happened. but i didn't know it was him, and i don't know why i was angry. i know he hated the hospital.

there will be a wake, irish-style.
grams wants to have a party to remember him.
can't agree more...

grampa john

taking the morning off work, to go see my grampa john in the hospital. opportunity to blog a little. and to honor a man i love.

not sure if i've talked about my gramps before. he's an amazing guy, my mom's dad. quiet. irish. dark hair. really good looking guy. a person i've idolized my whole life, and wanted to be like, and modeled my image of what a person should do with their life...

he can do anything. probly has. a handyman-extraordinaire. someone who inspired me to look at life a little differently, yet to deal with daily responsibilities in an accepting way. did i say that right? he is the guy who nike thought of when they said "just do it", he did it, and does it, not effortlessly, but with a quiet determination that i found extremely valuable.

i made him laugh once when i was a teenager, telling a joke at the kitchen table up at the cabin. probly one of the shining moments of my memory, making him laugh. the punchline of the joke was "my name's chuck".

it's a little strange to think of him leaving, moving on to the next life, but something makes me think he is just paving the way for the rest of us...

supercross

took the twins to supercross sat.nite downtown... wow!

i don't know if it's the same part of fringe-society that is all monster-truckin, or if they are just the motocross-ridin, dirt-eatin, dune-jumpin, desert-rippin variety...

but, now, i want to be part of it.
maybe it's the sound of the 4-stroke 450s when they crank it up, or the unusual number of hot-moms (same ratios as hot-soccer-moms, i bet), but it rocks.

hrm, actually went in to work today. not a long drive, but it's a holiday. so, now i'm at my coffeeshop, hanging out...

paintball

yeehaw! my two boys (twin B and my stepson) called and asked me to take them to the paintball place for the afternoon! hehe, it was great getting invited, and even to be asked to play... but the best part was, getting to watch my older boy be cool. lol.

i know, i know, but 14 yr olds have their own definition of cool, and my younger son looks up to him alot, and it was a good afternoon for all of us boys. (my girl went to work with her mom).

so, we all got shot a zillion times, and killed like a bajillion other people (video game govt training is working pretty well), and it was dirty and sticky, and there were hotdogs and cokes and bees (one of us got stung).

some kid (showing off for his girlfriend) fronted my older son about his gun, something about the manufacturer, and not being the coolest, most expensive, etc, etc. and the reply was "maybe you should just shut your mouth". now that was cool... Brando-cool, Dean-cool, Sean Connery-cool without the accent.

GO, RUN, SHOOT!!!

sunny sunday #9

or at least 9th in a row... i'm sitting at this table that happens to get both direct sunlite, and reflected sun off the polished concrete floor, ow, ow, ow - brightness.

beautiful day here in sunny phoenix, gonna hit 75 today... jealous beeyatches? ha!

i was just clik'n around on the top 9 sites i like to visit (hi, hi, hi x 3). left nice comments on the nice sites, left bitchy comments on the bitchy sites, left other commments on the other sites... all in good fun.

i wish i could spell outrageous with an outrageous french accent, that would be shweet. can sean connery say shexy, shweatpantsh ? i dunno...

i need another short cappucino.

second season, much like the first

saturdays loss 9-1, and i noticed the opposing coach working her players thru all different positions, etc., which was very cool of her, moving defensive players to offense, offense to defense, etc. (so as to not rack up the score too much).

my players aren't competing, at all. i'm not sure if they've given up, or if, after losing other games by 15 points, 9 is no biggee? (their coach sucks, btw).

there are brief moments of joy, a good save by our goalie, a nice breakaway off good passing and teamwork, a lucky goal off of a defenders leg. but, overall, we get pounded into the brown grass of winter.

happy new year!

didn't do much. had my kids, and finding kid-friendly events is always a bit of a challenge. we went to my friends for a bit, then we went to their friends for a bit, then we went and got a couple of movies, and some sparkling apple cider, and spent the rest of the evening goofing around the apartment.

heard some gunfire around the turn of the year, which isn't unusual i suppose. but it sure seems crazy to me, my son (11) even pantomimed it, as if he was using something on full-auto... i laughed and said: now you better find something to hide under... he gave me a blank look, and then smirked: oh yeah. we pondered how long you would have to run and hide, after shooting in the air... probly some trajectory math fxn for that, i bet.

so, it was a relatively quiet new years beginning. which is good. no resolutions.

one wish: peace (but not in a scifi channel way).

i was just not into the holidays this year.
not that i'm a grinch, just grumpy...

now, after the fact, i'm doing okay.

(the kids were put out becuz i dint get a tree this year)

happy holidays!!! et al

almost finished wrapping all the presents... they're sitting in a cool little pile on my spare futon in the middle of my living room. i ran out of metallic wrapping paper and have to go buy some more, maybe some more tape too, cuz that's gonna run out next, i bet. that metallic stuff tears/cuts funny - not one straight line.
(some of the wrappings came out a bit funky, and that's my excuse)


haven't blog'd for awhile.


it's not that i haven't anything to say, or that nothing vital is going on in my life. i've just been busy; yoga on mondays and wednesdays, soccer on tuesdays and thursdays and saturdays.

been working alot too, even on sundays, bleh.

i've also been entertaining the thought of creating a blog, wiki, or bliki dealing with work-related software stuff... mostly a Q&A thing so i can bug a couple of friends of mine (who i used to work with) about stuff i'm having trouble with. figured i'd call it "d00dz, i'm lame, help me!" - pithy, eh?

and... there is a new friend, and she is sweet and funny, and we've been hanging out whenever we have some extra time. and that's all i've got to say about that. ;)
